OUR ASPIRATION- TITUS 2 STYLE
by Amy Lively
1. Practice reverence in behavior. Set an example of holiness. "If the roots of the tree are holy, the branches will be, too." (Romans 11:16).
2. Avoid being a malicious gossip. Gossip is more than spreading a juicy secret; it's also twisting a story to your favor. This word, diabolos, is also translated "devil." Devilish tongues have no place in Pikesville. Remember there's always two sides to a story.
3.Not enslaved to sin. A woman should not struggle with entanglement or be controlled by any wine-or anything else, for that matter.
4. Instructive. We do not have to be a biblical scholars, but a woman should be able to explain the hope she has in memorable, applicable ways. We'll take turns in sharing with each other.
5. Temperate. We want to remain calm, cool and collected, and be aware of other's feelings and mindful of the consequences of our words and actions.
6. Dignified. We do not have to wear a sparkling tiara, but we can sparkle like jewels in Christ's crown. A dignified woman knows who she is in Christ and cherishes that.
7. Sensible. Forget sensible shoes, a woman should keep her senses and exercises self-control over desires and impulses (including impulses to purchase un-sensible shoes, even on sale!).
8. Faithful. A woman must be firm in her beliefs about Christ and unshakable in her convictions about God's sovereignty and goodness.
9. Loving. As Christ loves us, we intend to cultivate love for others with tenderness, sacrifice and kindness.
10. Patient. As women, we will endure all things, with perseverance and diligence, while exercising boundaries. Our character should inspire hope in others.
